The Las Vegas Raiders made a move on Wednesday by parting ways with their initial member of the 2023 draft class, defensive tackle Nesta Jade Silvera.
Silvera, a seventh-round selection from Arizona State, joined the team after transferring from Miami in 2022. Notably, his time at Arizona State did not coincide with Raiders’ interim head coach Antonio Pierce during his tenure in Tempe.

Among the nine draft picks made by former general manager Dave Ziegler, who was dismissed alongside head coach Josh McDaniels on October 31, two other players from the 2022 draft, defensive tackle Neil Farrell and Matthew Butler, are no longer part of the active roster. Farrell was traded to Kansas City, while Butler is presently on the practice squad.
Byron Young, chosen in the third round of the 2023 draft, stands as the sole defensive tackle among Ziegler’s picks who remains on the team’s roster. However, he has not seen action since Week 7.
Despite the Raiders expressing praise for Silvera and being enthusiastic about his performance during preseason and training camp, he failed to leave a significant impact during the regular season. He saw limited action, only appearing in two games (Week 4 and Week 9), playing a total of 24 defensive snaps and registering two tackles.
Silvera will be eligible for waivers on Thursday. If he clears waivers, he might be signed to the Raiders’ practice squad. However, 379-pound defensive tackle Marquan McCall was officially added to the practice squad. As a rookie in 2022, he has 15 tackles for Carolina.
