Lions’ star Gardner-Johnson hits reporter with ‘dumbest question’ response to playoffs question

The Detroit Lions are now 10-4 on the season and appear to be on track to win the NFC North Division. Detroit is set to face the Vikings in Minnesota on Sunday, aka Christmas Eve, and all eyes will be on Detroit’s title quest. On Wednesday, Lions defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was asked if the Lions can make a postseason run this season. His reply is about what you’d expect from someone who earlier this season encouraged Lions supporters to wear ski masks to a home game at Ford Field.

‘The Dumbest Question:” Gardner-Johnson Reacts

Gardner-Johnson, exuding confidence while hitting back at a reporter, calmly expressed his opinion on the playoffs and if Detroit considers itself a “threat.”

The video below shows his response.

“Show some respect, at the very least,” one commenter stated in response to the interviewer’s query.

Others just answered with “fire” emojis, as well as laughing and smiling emoji expressions, clearly overwhelmed by their thoughts and feelings in the aftermath of what they had just experienced. Gardner-Johnson signed a one-year contract with the Lions as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. The former Florida Gator and Philadelphia Eagles safety hasn’t played since September 17 against the Seattle Seahawks, although he has 13 tackles in two games.

Lions Playoff Scenarios

With a win versus the Vikings on Sunday, the Lions can clinch their first postseason appearance since 2017.

Even if the Seahawks or Rams lose this week, the Lions may still clinch a playoff spot if they lose on Sunday. Meanwhile, Gardner-Johnson, Dan Campbell, Jared Goff, and the rest of the Lions have made it apparent that they will not concede a single game for the rest of what has been a rewarding and entertaining 2023 season.
