Texans’ DeMeco Ryans sounds off on C.J. Stroud’s real health status

It appears that C.J. Stroud, the quarterback for the Houston Texans, is dealing with a concussion, and coach DeMeco Ryans is taking a cautious approach to his return. Stroud sustained the injury during Week 14’s game against the New York Jets when his head slammed into the turf. He was subsequently placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Coach Ryans provided an update on Stroud’s condition, mentioning that he is improving but still in the concussion protocol. The Texans are prioritizing Stroud’s health and won’t rush him back into the lineup. Ryans emphasized that each concussion is different, and the recovery time varies for each individual.

Texans' C.J. Stroud remains in the concussion protocol, will likely miss game vs. Browns

In the previous week’s game against the Denver Broncos, Stroud had already shown signs of potential concussion after a quarterback sneak. Although he returned to the game after evaluation, it seems that his condition worsened in the following week, leading to his absence in Week 15’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Ryans stressed the importance of patience in dealing with concussions and mentioned that Stroud’s health is the top priority. While there is no definitive timeline for his return, Ryans indicated that they wouldn’t rule out Stroud playing again this season once he is fully recovered and ready to go.

The Texans are taking a cautious and individualized approach to Stroud’s recovery, ensuring that he receives the necessary time and care to heal from the concussion before returning to the field.
