Good News: Done deal Steve Sarkisian confirm the signing of another highly talented star

Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian announced a late addition to the team’s roster on Friday, securing a commitment from highly sought-after four-star wide receiver Aaron Butler. The signing took place just as the early signing period came to a close, fulfilling Sarkisian’s earlier statement during his Early Signing Day press conference that the team might add another wide receiver to its lineup.

Despite initially being considered a West Coast recruit hailing from Calabasas, California, Butler’s recruitment journey saw him taking official visits to the Arizona Wildcats, Colorado Buffaloes, and Georgia Bulldogs before the Early Signing Period. However, the Longhorns, under the guidance of wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, made a decisive move by extending an official offer to Butler on the second day of the signing period. This move catapulted Texas into contention for Butler’s services, even though he had never visited Austin.

Butler had narrowed down his options to three schools before making his decision: the Arizona Wildcats, the Washington Huskies, and the Texas Longhorns. Notably, Arizona hosted Butler for his final official visit, while Washington had the prospect on campus for the regular-season finale rivalry game against Washington State.

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds, Butler brings a combination of track speed, exceptional ball skills, and physicality developed from playing on the defensive side of the ball. Initially committed to the USC Trojans for a position in the cornerback, Butler later pledged to play for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Now, he is set to contribute early on to Jackson’s wide receiver unit, adding depth and value to the Longhorns’ roster.

Ranked as the No. 122 player nationally and the 21st wide receiver according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Butler joins the Texas Longhorns alongside Houston transfer Matthew Golden and three other high school signees in Jackson’s wide receiver class. The addition of Butler contributes to the team’s overall success in recruiting, as the Longhorns’ class now stands at No. 3 nationally with 23 signees and two transfers, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in college football.
