Two Tigers hit 1,000 in Auburn’s win vs. Alabama State

AUBURN, Ala. – In a remarkable basketball feat, both K.D. Johnson and Jaylin Williams achieved the prestigious 1,000-point milestone in their careers, contributing to Auburn’s dominant 82-62 victory over Alabama State on Friday night. The win marked the Tigers’ 50th consecutive triumph in non-conference home games under the guidance of head coach Bruce Pearl.

K.D. Johnson, a seasoned senior, was the first to reach the 1,000-point mark. Entering the game needing just five points, Johnson showcased his scoring prowess by sinking his second 3-pointer late in the first half, effectively reaching the milestone. The senior finished the game with 13 points, marking his third double-figure scoring performance of the season.

 

Jaylin Williams, a fifth-year senior, entered the contest 17 points shy of the 1,000-point milestone. Williams played a pivotal role in Auburn’s decisive victory, leading the team with an impressive 20 points. He reached the coveted 1,000-point mark in the second half, executing a left-handed lay-up in transition. Williams further electrified the audience with a spectacular one-handed alley-oop dunk from Tre Donaldson in the ensuing play, nearly bringing the entire arena to its feet.

The collective achievements of Johnson and Williams added a significant layer of accomplishment to Auburn’s triumph over Alabama State.
