AlphaTauri’s driver, Daniel Ricciardo, confessed to experiencing intense frustration during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix this season. The race began in disarray as Charles Leclerc collided with the barrier during the formation lap, followed by a crash at turn one. In a conversation on the P1 with Matt and Tommy Podcast, Ricciardo recounted being entangled in the tumultuous events of the Brazilian race this year.
A glance at the 2023 season’s results might suggest a lackluster campaign dominated by Max Verstappen, seemingly winning nearly every race. However, beyond Verstappen’s consistent victories, the races were far from dull, often filled with substantial action elsewhere on the track.
Sao Paulo epitomized this trend, explaining why Daniel Ricciardo’s anger was understandable when the race resumed after the disruption. Numerous retirements occurred when Nico Hulkenberg was pressured by his teammates Kevin Magnussen and Alex Albon, causing all three cars to spin off the track. Ricciardo had managed to steer clear of the accident, only to have a loose tire collide with the back of his car.
