Texas makes the top five for 2025 four-star DL

The inclusion of Nashville product Ethan Utley in the top five schools for the 2025 recruiting class is certainly promising news for the Texas Longhorns and their head coach Steve Sarkisian. Utley, a consensus four-star defensive lineman from Ensworth, has attracted attention from numerous programs, and Texas being among his finalists speaks to the program’s appeal.

Utley’s top five also includes Michigan, Oklahoma, Syracuse, and Tennessee, showcasing the competitiveness for his commitment. With 40 total offers, he has a wide range of options, including schools like Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.

The 6’4″, 270-pound defensive lineman is not new to the Texas program, having earned an offer during a camp on the Forty Acres last summer. His return to Austin in early November to witness the Longhorns’ thrilling overtime victory over the Wildcats indicates a continued interest in the program. This engagement, along with the evaluation process led by Steve Sarkisian and defensive line coach Bo Davis, positions Texas as a strong contender for Utley.

Ranked as the No. 112 player nationally and the No. 11 defensive lineman by the 247Sports Composite rankings, Utley is a key target for the Longhorns in the 2025 recruiting cycle. As the recruiting process unfolds, Longhorns fans will be eagerly anticipating whether Texas can secure a commitment from this highly-rated prospect and further strengthen their roster for the future.
