Jordan Lyle explains why he chose Miami Hurricanes as 11 from St. Thomas Aquinas sign
Jordan Lyle, a top running back recruit from Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, has made a significant commitment switch from the Ohio State Buckeyes to the Miami Hurricanes. Lyle, who signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday morning, expressed his excitement about staying close to home and fulfilling the dream of representing his city.
During his senior season at St. Thomas Aquinas, Lyle showcased his talent with 1,376 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, contributing to the team’s state-record fifth consecutive state championship. The Hurricanes have successfully flipped commitments from top local running backs before, including Mark Fletcher last year, and they continue this trend with Lyle’s decision.
Lyle is one of 11 St. Thomas Aquinas football players who signed their national letter of intent on Wednesday. Three other St. Thomas Aquinas players also committed to the Hurricanes: four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson, three-star safety Ryan Mack (son of former Hurricanes linebacker Roderick Mack), and three-star cornerback Romanas Frederique Jr.
Robinson, who committed to the Hurricanes in April, remained loyal to Miami despite a late push from Ohio State. Mack, who committed in late June, showcased his skills with three interceptions, nine defended passes, and 45 tackles during his senior season. Frederique, who flipped to UM in June from an initial commitment to West Virginia, contributed 10 pass breakups and 28 tackles in the same season.
The signing day event at St. Thomas Aquinas highlighted the Hurricanes’ success in recruiting local talent and building a connection with the community. Additionally, four-star wide receiver James Madison II, originally from the Kansas City area, signed with the Missouri Tigers, heading back to his hometown. Two of Madison’s St. Thomas Aquinas teammates, linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez and defensive lineman Justin Boford, also joined him in signing with Missouri.
