Good News: Miami Hurricanes Commit Another Top Super Star 7A Player Of The Year

Miami Hurricanes’ future quarterback, Luke Nickel, has been named the Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team selection in the 7A classification by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior from Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton had an impressive season, leading his team to a state title with 3914 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also contributed six rushing touchdowns during the 13-win season.

One standout performance came against the nationally renowned program Loganville (Ga.) Grayson in the 7A semi-final, where Nickel threw for 434 yards and four touchdowns, leading his team to a 45-35 victory.

Wisconsin hosted 2025 quarterback Luke Nickel this past weekend.

Nickel’s commitment to the Miami Hurricanes came after a strong showing at a camp in July, where he threw for offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and the coaching staff. Despite being considered a high three-star prospect by 247Sports, Nickel has garnered attention from various programs, holding offers from schools like North Carolina, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Penn State, Stanford, Florida State, and Louisville.

The 247Sports director of scouting provided insights after watching Nickel in action earlier in the season, noting his ability to read the entire field, attack the second level of a defense, and thrive in a balanced, timing-based system. The scouting report also highlighted Nickel’s accuracy, catchable throws, and pre-snap adjustments, while acknowledging that he has the tools required to succeed on Saturdays.

With Luke Nickel’s recent recognition as the Offensive Player of the Year, the Miami Hurricanes look forward to having a talented and promising quarterback leading their team in the future.
