Despite Georgia’s disappointment in seeing its 29-game winning streak come to an end and missing out on a College Football Playoff spot, there is a silver lining as quarterback Carson Beck has announced his decision to return for the 2024 season.
Beck revealed the thought process behind his decision, emphasizing a sense of unfinished business for the upcoming season after the Bulldogs’ plans were derailed by a loss to Alabama in the SEC title game. The impact of that loss played a role in his choice to return, as he acknowledged that things might have been different if the outcome had been in Georgia’s favor.
The fourth-year junior quarterback is expected to start for Georgia in the Orange Bowl against No. 4 Florida State. Despite being considered a first- or second-round NFL draft prospect, Beck opted to return for his senior season. In the 2023 season, he posted impressive numbers, completing 72% of his passes for 3,738 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Beck’s decision to come back adds optimism for Georgia fans, providing continuity and experience at the quarterback position as the Bulldogs look to bounce back and make another championship run in the 2024 season.
