Former 5-Star defensive back Domani Jackson commits to Alabama.
The transfer portal continues to be kind to the Tide.
The transfer portal has been favorable for the Alabama Crimson Tide, with the addition of Domani Jackson, the #5 overall recruit just two seasons ago. Initially choosing USC over Alabama and Michigan, Jackson entered the transfer portal following his freshman season, during which he suffered a patella injury and had limited playing time.
In 2023, Jackson became a full-time starter for the USC Trojans at cornerback. His decision to enter the transfer portal was influenced by the departure of DB Coach Donte Williams to Georgia. Despite USC’s defensive struggles, Jackson’s performance included giving up 20 catches on 31 targets for 411 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
Physically, Jackson is an impressive athlete, standing at 6’1″ and weighing 190 pounds. His notable speed, reflected in a 10.25s 100m dash, underscores his top-tier NFL-level athleticism. However, it’s noted that he needs to take the next step in his game to fully realize his potential.
Alabama’s cornerback room is expected to be competitive in the upcoming spring, particularly with the likely departure of Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold to the first round of the NFL draft. The addition of Jackson provides an opportunity for him to compete and potentially contribute to the team’s defense.
