Breaking News: St. Louis CITY SC reportedly confirm the signing of another star

St. Louis CITY SC has signed Norwegian-American right defender Tomas Totland for an undisclosed amount from Swedish First Division team BK Häcken. Totland has agreed to a three-year contract with a club option for 2027.

“We are excited to bring Tomas to St. Louis after a lot of interest from European and MLS teams,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He comes to our team with experience at a high level, including playing in both Champions League and Europa League matches this season. Along with his experience, he is well-rounded in both the attacking and defending phases.”

Totland, a 24-year-old right back, holds dual citizenship in Norway and the U.S. He spent the last two seasons showcasing his skills with BK Häcken. During this period, he notably participated in various prestigious tournaments like the Europa League, Europa League qualifiers, and Champions League qualifiers. Across these competitions, he made 10 appearances and contributed with one assist. Totland played a pivotal role in Häcken’s success, aiding the team in securing their first-ever Allsvenskan title (Swedish First Division) and their third Svenska Cup (Swedish knockout cup). Throughout his tenure at Häcken, spanning two years, Totland featured in 60 matches across all competitions, contributing one goal and seven assists.

His journey in the Norwegian Youth National team includes appearances at the Under-18, U-20, and U-21 levels. Totland accumulated a total of seven appearances, including representing his country during the U-20 World Cup in 2019.

Before his tenure at Häcken, Totland kickstarted his professional career in Norway, honing his skills across five seasons with three different clubs. He began at Fana Idrettslag, competing in the Norwegian Third Division in 2016, where he spent a season-and-a-half, participated in 10 matches, and scored one goal. He then made a move to Sogndal Idrettslag, a Norwegian Second Division team, where he notably showcased his talent in 81 matches, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists. Subsequently, Totland joined Tromsø Idrettslag, a Norwegian First Division club, in 2021, contributing five goals and three assists in 28 matches across various competitions.
