The Chicago Bears are reportedly considering signing free agent wide receiver Amari Rodgers, who was formerly with the Green Bay Packers. The suggestion comes from the NFL staff at Bleacher Report, noting that wide receiver is expected to be one of the Bears’ significant offseason needs, particularly in the slot, as Darnell Mooney’s contract is set to expire.
Rodgers, a former third-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers, is proposed as a potential addition for the Bears, giving them the opportunity to evaluate his performance over the remaining weeks of the current season. At just 24 years old, Rodgers could be a candidate for a reserve/future contract, and the Bears might want to assess his fit with the team.
In his NFL career with the Colts (2023), Texans (2022), and Packers (2021-22), Rodgers has played 33 games, recording 20 receptions for 249 yards and one touchdown. Beyond his receiving contributions, he has also showcased versatility by rushing three times for 18 yards, returning 40 punts for 305 yards (7.6 average), and returning 17 kickoffs for 321 yards (18.9 average).
The potential signing of Amari Rodgers by the Bears adds an intriguing storyline, considering his history with the Green Bay Packers. The move could be seen as an attempt to gain insights or a strategic advantage for their upcoming Week 18 matchup against the Packers.
