News Now: In the King’s New Year’s Honours list, Horner receives a CBE and Dennis is knighted.

In King Charles III’s New Year’s Honours List, current Red Bull CEO Christian Horner received a CBE while former McLaren Formula 1 executive Ron Dennis was knighted.

Dennis was named as receiving a Knighthood for services to industry and charity through his present roles as chairman of Tommy’s Campaign and chair of Podium Analytics, when the usual list of honors was unveiled on Friday night.

For his services to motor racing, he was previously awarded a CBE. Over the course of more than 30 years, he helped led McLaren to numerous championship victories, managing the Woking-based team.

He has fully stopped being involved with Formula One since leaving McLaren in 2017 in order to concentrate on other commercial endeavors, which have included working for the UK government.

Prior to Red Bull’s run of four straight title doubles from 2010, Horner was named an Officer of the British Empire in 2013.

But now that Max Verstappen has won his third consecutive drivers’ championship and helped lead Red Bull to one of the most dominant F1 campaigns in history, he has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to motor racing.

Regarding his honor, Horner expressed his gratitude for the acknowledgement of the economic impact of the British motorsport industry as well as the accomplishments of his own F1 team.

“Getting an OBE was an unexpected honor ten years ago, and I am incredibly grateful and honored to have received this second award, a CBE,” he remarked.

Leading and collaborating with an incredible team like Oracle Red Bull Racing and working in a sector that plays a significant role in the economy of the United Kingdom are both enormous privileges.

“I am really honored to be recognized for that effort, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished with Red Bull in Formula 1 and in the larger high technology arena.”

Red Bull was unmatched this year, winning 21 of the 22 races it participated in en route to winning both championship championships.

Along with Verstappen’s driver’s title, it was also the first year that Red Bull drivers had finished first and second overall thanks to teammate Sergio Perez’s runner-up result in the standings.

Verstappen led more than a thousand laps, and Red Bull’s accomplishments are unparalleled. Their 1988 season, in which the team won 15 of 16 grand prix, was not nearly as brilliant as Red Bull’s.

Horner himself is positive that his team’s 2023 performance will not be surpassed.

“I don’t think we’ll see a repeat of what we’ve managed to do with a car that’s achieved the kind of dominance of RB19, certainly not in our lifetimes,” he said in a recent statement.
