NFL Fines Steelers WR George Pickens
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has incurred a fine from the NFL for an unsportsmanlike penalty during Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. The league imposed a $16,391 fine on Pickens for an incident that occurred with 9:47 remaining in the third quarter. The penalty was a result of Pickens pointing at a Bengals defender as he made his way toward the endzone after securing his second touchdown reception of the game. Notably, Pickens did not receive a penalty flag for this action during the actual game.
In that particular matchup against the Bengals, Pickens had a standout performance, concluding the game with four receptions for an impressive 195 yards and two touchdowns. Despite the fine, Pickens’ on-field contributions showcased his skill and impact on the game. This marks the third time Pickens has faced fines during the current season, with the initial two fines occurring in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Interestingly, Pickens’ noteworthy game against the Bengals was not only a display of his receiving prowess but also a milestone in his career. Surpassing 1,000 yards for the first time, Pickens achieved a significant milestone, highlighting his growing impact within the Steelers’ offensive lineup.
Looking ahead, Pickens will aim for another stellar performance as the Steelers face the Seattle Seahawks, with Mason Rudolph set to make his second start. The receiver’s ability to consistently contribute to the team’s offensive output, coupled with his knack for making big plays, positions him as a key player to watch in upcoming games. Despite the fines incurred, Pickens remains focused on making impactful contributions to the team and building on his successful 2023 season.
