The Kansas City Chiefs have encountered a string of struggles in recent weeks, leading to considerable frustration among their players, including their top stars, Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. Kelce drew attention during the Chiefs’ defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day when he angrily spiked his helmet on the sideline and engaged in a heated conversation with head coach Andy Reid.
On the other hand, Mahomes expressed his displeasure by yelling at officials following a close loss to the Buffalo Bills. His frustration was palpable even when interacting with Bills quarterback Josh Allen after the game.
Former Chiefs wide receiver Dante Hall has reached a breaking point with the team’s situation.
During his appearance on “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network, Dante Hall outlined three critical steps he believes the Kansas City Chiefs must take to salvage their season. Hall’s recommendations included advising Patrick Mahomes to adopt a strategy akin to Tom Brady’s approach, suggesting Mahomes opt for checkdowns rather than consistently pursuing big plays.
Hall concluded his suggestions by emphasizing the urgent need for the Chiefs to rectify their overall attitude and mindset.
“Body language is everything,” Hall said. “When you are screaming and yelling at your players, that permeates negatively. What you have had in the first five years, that poker face, ‘we know we’re going to win this in the end,’ that permeates positively. Get back to being positive.”
The Chiefs have shown some hope. Following the loss to the Raiders, Mahomes voiced faith in the team’s ability to score…if they can limit their own mistakes.
“It’s just we have to clean it up,” Mahomes said. “Two games left, you have to do it, and if we don’t, we’ll be going home. If we clean it up, we can beat anybody. I truly believe that. but we have to prove that we can do it.”
Meanwhile, Kelce has often stated on the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason that the Chiefs will figure out and solve whatever is wrong.
Despite remaining first in the AFC West, the Chiefs have lost four of their last six games and are no longer guaranteed a bye in the first round of the playoffs, as Kelce lamented on the newest episode of New Heights.
Hall doesn’t like what he’s seeing.
“It’s like my little kids running around here on Christmas Day,” Hall said. “We got you a Christmas tree filled with presents, and you’re acting like spoiled little brats. These guys know I love them, so as a friend, as a brother, I had to call you out. This is not a good look. I’m watching the game with my kids. My daughter loves Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and you’re acting like that? Come on, guys. Be better, and I think the team will be better.”
The Chiefs have two more games before the playoffs begin to turn things around. The first game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. against the Cincinnati Bengals.
