Running back Brian Battie is back on the move after a year on the Plains.
Battie, who is transferring from USF to Auburn for the 2023 season, re-entered the transfer portal on Monday, according to 247Sports. Battie spent three seasons at USF before transferring to Auburn for one year, entering the gateway with one year of eligibility.
Battie, an All-American kick returner at USF, joined a loaded running back group led by Jarquez Hunter, with Damari Alston right behind him. Battie served as the team’s third running back, carrying the ball 51 times for 227 yards and a touchdown while also collecting seven catches for 52 yards. In 2022, the 5-foot-7 Battie led USF in rushing with 1,186 yards and eight touchdowns.
Hunter has not yet made an official decision on whether or not to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, but he is anticipated to return. Alston will be in his third year with the team, while talented young back Jeremiah Cobb will be in his second. Sean Jackson, a walk-on running back who is highly rated by the coaching staff, has also seen some action. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Auburn did not sign a running back.
Battie is the 13th Auburn player in the 2024 cycle to enter the transfer portal, and the first after the Music City Bowl loss. Auburn’s movement may be tracked at the transfer portal HERE.
