Former USC wide receiver Michael Jackson III has officially committed to the University of Georgia after entering the transfer portal last month. The announcement was made through a graphic posted on his social media page, confirming his decision to join the Georgia Bulldogs.
During the current season with the Trojans, Jackson participated in seven games, recording 17 catches for 146 yards and scoring a touchdown. Over the course of his three seasons at USC, he accumulated a total of 46 catches, 498 yards, and 5 touchdowns. His performance in high school earned him a 4-star recruit rating according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, and he received offers from various schools, including three SEC programs: Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Georgia’s primary receiver in the previous season was tight end Brock Bowers, who boasted impressive stats with 56 catches, 714 yards, and 6 touchdowns. However, Bowers has since declared his intention to enter the NFL draft, leaving a gap in the Bulldogs’ receiving corps.
With Jackson’s arrival, Georgia aims to strengthen its wide receiver lineup and maintain competitiveness in the upcoming seasons. The former Trojan joins the team alongside established players like senior Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and junior Dominic Lovett, who were among the Bulldogs’ top-performing receivers. The addition of Jackson brings a mix of experience and skill, as his high school accolades and contributions to USC indicate his potential impact on Georgia’s offense.
As the Bulldogs look to build on their success, Jackson’s transfer signifies a strategic move to enhance their receiving options and maintain their status as contenders in the highly competitive SEC. His diverse skill set and previous success make him a valuable asset as Georgia continues to solidify its roster for the challenges ahead.
