Tennessee Titans make decision on Will Levis heading into regular-season finale.
Will Levis promising rookie season has come to an end as the former Penn State quarterback was declared out for his Tennessee Titans’ season-finale Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to sources.
Levis has been suffering with a foot injury suffered in last week’s loss to Houston.
Levis, who concluded his college career at Kentucky, was anticipated to be a top-five choice in April’s NFL Draft. He notoriously dropped to the second round before the Titans took him with the 33rd-pick.
Veteran Ryan Tannehill started the season for the Titans, but with the club floundering, coach Mike Vrabel gave Levis an opportunity and he answered by throwing for 1,808 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions in nine games. He also ran for 57 yards and a score. And, while those figures are not exactly eye-popping, Levis displayed flashes of brilliance and skill that should give Titans supporters reason to be enthusiastic about the future.
“I think they just saw my competitiveness, my drive, my spirit,” Levis said this week on the team’s website when asked what the Titans got right in taking him this year. “I’m glad the Titans were able to see the true me.”
Tannehill is expected to start in Levis’ place for the game against the Jaguars, and that will be of interest to Pittsburgh Steelers supporters since if the Titans can get the win the Steelers will make the playoffs.
