In a significant development for Ohio State’s football program, Devin Sanchez, a highly sought-after five-star cornerback hailing from Houston and part of the Class of 2025, has officially committed to the Buckeyes. The announcement was made by Sanchez during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, where he disclosed his decision to enroll early at Ohio State in January 2025.

Sanchez’s commitment carries substantial weight, as he is widely regarded as one of the top players in the nation for his class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he holds the impressive rankings of No. 6 overall player, No. 2 cornerback nationally, and the second-best player in Texas within the Class of 2025. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 and weighing 170 pounds, Sanchez brings a formidable presence to the cornerback position. His decision to commit to Ohio State followed careful consideration and evaluation of other top-tier programs. Notable finalists in the recruitment battle included Texas A&M, Alabama, and LSU, but ultimately, Sanchez opted to don the scarlet and gray for his collegiate career.

During his junior season at North Shore High School in Houston, Sanchez demonstrated his prowess on the field. He played a pivotal role in guiding the team to the Class 6A Division I state championship game, though they fell short to Duncanville High. His individual statistics showcased his defensive capabilities, with 32 tackles (11 solo), 11 passes defended, and five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

With his commitment, Ohio State secures a key player for the future, adding depth and talent to their roster. Sanchez’s early enrollment in January 2025 indicates his eagerness to contribute to the Buckeyes’ football program and make an impact from the outset of his college career.
