West Ham have reportedly made a move to sign Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson, who has been in great form this season.
The Icelandic international has been one of the heroes of the Serie A campaign this year, with Gudmundsson bagging ten goals and three assists for Genoa in all competitions.
And this form has already attracted interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham one among the sides reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old winger this January.
However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham have now made their move to sign Gudmundsson, albeit Genoa have shot down the Hammers over any prospective deal this winter.
As to the report, the Serie A side are resigned to losing another major player this January, with Genoa close to moving Radu Dragusin to Tottenham.
Lauded by Kevin Strootman as a ‘devastating’ winger, Gudmundsson could have been an amazing signing for West Ham this January, yet it looks this is one move that won’t be happening.
Genoa would have suited West Ham to a tee
With Strootman also likening Gudmundsson to Mohamed Salah, it’s evident that the Iceland superstar is a player who has made quite the impact at Genoa this season.
And for West Ham, the winger would have been a perfect addition, especially with Jarrod Bowen due to spend the next few weeks out on the treatment table.
However, with Genoa already losing one major player this month to the Premier League, it makes sense why the Serie A club are eager to keep hold of their top striker.
