The unexpected Los Angeles Rams will travel to Michigan on Sunday afternoon to play the NFC North champion Detroit Lions in the NFL playoff wild-card round.
It will signify that Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, will make his way back to Ford Field, the stadium he called home from 2009 until his trade to Los Angeles two seasons ago.
He was acquired by the Rams from Detroit in exchange for Jared Goff, who led the Lions to a 12-5 record this season and appears to have improved over the past two seasons.
The Rams don’t appear to have any bad emotions toward quarterback Aaron Goff, and according to Jourdan Rodrique, defensive tackle Aaron Donald gave Goff a message before to the game.
“Jared Goff, Aaron Donald’s former teammate, was contacted on Tuesday to express his admiration for him,” Rodrique tweeted.
During his time with the Los Angeles Rams, Goff was selected to the Pro Bowl in both 2017 and 2018. He led the team to the Super Bowl in 2018, where the New England Patriots ultimately put an end to them.
After that, his play declined, and the club came to the conclusion he wasn’t the right guy to take them to the promised land.
Before the 2021 season, he was basically traded for Stafford, who immediately helped the Rams win their first Super Bowl in Southern California (they had previously won it all in 1999 when in St. Louis).
The Rams have a little different roster this year, with rookie defensive lineman Kobie Turner and outstanding wide receiver Puka Nacua.
Even though Detroit is the favorite to win on Sunday, the Rams can still win because they won seven of their last eight games to end the regular season.
