The Atlanta Braves’ offseason has been fruitful.
Though it hasn’t been as fantastic as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ “all-time” offseason, the team is still easily the best in the NL East and among the top two in MLB.To date, Atlanta has added Reynaldo Lopez, David Fletcher, and Luis Guillorme through free agency and acquired Jarred Kelenic, Chris Sale, and Aaron Bummer through trade.Typically, baseball operations presidents and general managers don’t have contracts that last that long.
They typically have three or four years to demonstrate their ability to manage a baseball team’s operations.
Such is the Braves’ faith in Anthopoulos that they are locking him up through 2031.
That is absurd, yet it provides the franchise with a sense of security and consistency for the long run.
Following recent events on Friday, the engineer responsible for all those maneuvers and the several team-friendly extensions Atlanta has managed to get over the years will be around for a very long time.”On Twitter, the Atlanta Braves announced that President of Baseball Operations and General Manager had reached a multi-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2031 season.”He has led the Braves since 2017 and has won six consecutive NL East championships since 2018.
In addition, he participated in one World Series—which he won in 2021—and two NL Championship Series.
With stars like Spencer Strider, Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuna Jr., and others, he was able to secure very amicable contract extensions.
The Braves’ consistent success can be attributed mostly to Anthopoulos, who is now receiving some well-earned job security.
