On Saturday, the Bulldogs welcomed Travaris Robinson into the team’s coaching staff as the new co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. The Crimson Tide’s cornerbacks coach for the past two years was Robinson.
The future of the assistant coaching positions is questionable under the new administration of Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, as is common once a program’s head coach takes control.
Robinson receives a promotion and stays with an elite program when he transfers to the Bulldogs.
Robinson has the ability to fill his locker room with top-tier players thanks to his reputation as a top-tier recruiter in the nation.Some members of the Southeastern Conference take the fervor for football among SEC members to an extreme. Football, spring football, and recruitment all take precedence in many southern communities.
After losing the SEC Championship game 27-24, Georgia, which had previously won the title twice, lost all hope of completing a hat trick. Saban departed from coaching on Wednesday following a 17-year stint at Alabama that featured six national titles.
Robinson has served as a defensive coordinator once before, from 2016-20 at South Carolina under Will Muschamp.
Oddly enough, it is Muschamp, who has been a Georgia assistant since being ousted as the Gamecocks head coach in 2020, that shifts to an off-field role with Georgia to make place for Robinson.
Alabama and Georgia play next season in Tuscaloosa in what will be DeBoer’s first SEC game as a head coach.
