With official visits taking place this past weekend in The Classic City, Georgia was host to one of the Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2025 pledges.
After acquiring Jake Pope and Travaris Robinson from the Crimson Tide, they now hope to land Mason Short. The Alabama commit is no longer following his visit to Georgia on January 13th.
Short is a 4-star talent from the 2025 class out of Evans High School situated in Evans, GA. The 6′ 6″, 305-pounder is an offensive lineman for Evans but is classified as an interior offensive line recruit on his 247Sports website. Georgia could be recruiting him that way, as he spent time with Tate Ratledge on his visit.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Short is the 22nd rated player from Georgia and the eighth-best interior offensive line prospect from the 2025 class. He had been an Alabama commit since April of 2023.
Short might join a Georgia 2025 class with seven overall commitments and the seventh-rated recruiting class from 2025 after they lost Jabree Wallace-Coleman and Micah DeBose a few months back.
Since the retirement of Nick Saban, Alabama has experienced what the new era of college football is like with the transfer portal, losing Pope and Isaiah Bond, then potentially even Caleb Downs. They have also had a taste of what recruiting is like in this era of college football, losing a pledge from Ryan Williams and now Short.
