NEW PASS CATCHERS FOR JAN 17 Wide receiver Noah Brown was forced to be placed on injured reserve by the Houston Texans after he sustained a shoulder injury in the first quarter of their 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns in the wild-card round on Saturday at NRG Stadium.

The Texans have reportedly signed a number of receivers since losing Brown, starting with Steven Sims, who was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

Sims has made three catches for 25 yards on three targets in his three appearances for Houston this season. Throughout his career, Sims has participated in 44 games and gained 704 yards and five scores on 78 catches.

Damiere Byrd, a wide receiver, was also added by the Texans to the practice squad.

Over the previous eight seasons, Byrd has participated in 76 games and has caught 130 passes on 206 targets for 1,689 yards and seven touchdowns.

TAYLOR INJURED JAN. 6 The running attack of the Colts, led by standout back Jonathan Taylor, had the Houston Texans in a tight spot in Indianapolis.

Unfortunately for Houston, Taylor’s difficult year continued on Saturday as he was the first to leave the game due to a heel injury late in the third quarter.

It is currently doubtful if he will go back.

At the time of the injury, Taylor alone had accounted for 21 carries, 165 yards, and a touchdown for the Colts’ running total of almost 200 yards.

Without Taylor in the lineup, the Colts managed to tie the score at 17 with a field goal at the end of their final drive.

DEC 31 BIG MAN TD Against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the Houston Texans are up and running.

After a touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud put Houston ahead by two touchdowns in the first quarter, Jerry Hughes strip-sacking Titans quarterback Will Levis and Sheldon Rankins grabbing it for a touchdown early in the second quarter gave Houston a three-point lead.

This is both Rankins’ first career touchdown and the Texans’ first defensive touchdown of the year.

TUNSIL DOWN DEC 17? Due to what appears to be a lower-body injury, Texas left lineman Laremy Tunsil was forced to miss the team’s crucial AFC South game against the Titans on Sunday.

Tunsil had to miss three games earlier in the season due to knee problems that he has been dealing with all season.

Josh Jones has taken Tunsil’s spot in the starting lineup, and it is currently uncertain when he will be back.

KEENUM STARTING DEC 16 The Houston Texans plan to start Case Keenum at quarterback instead of the injured C.J. Stroud, per reports from KPRC.

Many were surprised by this because they thought DeMeco Ryans would select Davis Mills, the team’s starting quarterback before to Stroud’s arrival.

According to the article, Keenum’s experience was the deciding factor going into such a crucial game for the Texans’ postseason prospects.

DEC 13: TEXANS VS OILERS The Tennessee Titans will don some outfits that Houston sports fans will not like when they play the Texans on Sunday in Nashville.

The Titans are going to be playing in retro Houston Oilers clothes when the Texans travel to Nashville.

Naturally, the Houston Oilers in the American Football League were the original team of the Titans, who moved to the NFL in 1970.

After that, in 1997, the Oilers relocated to Nashville, where they played for two seasons under the same name before changing it to the Titans in 1999.

When the Houston Texans returned to the NFL in 2002, a lot of supporters demanded that the team adopt the Oilers as their new mascot. But it was not feasible because the Adams family owned the rights to that name.

Now, on Sunday afternoon, the Titans will supposedly be flashing the emblem in the face of Texans supporters everywhere.

VERRETT RETURNS TO SAN FRANCISCO ON DEC 12 Jason Verrett, a former cornerback for the Houston Texans, signed with the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, so he’s on a new team—or, more precisely, back to an old team.

Verrett, 32, joined the Texans’ practice squad in the middle of October, but he was cut a month later without ever playing a game.

Verrett was selected with the 25th overall pick by the San Diego Chargers in 2014, but his career has been marred by many injuries. In his tenth season with the Chargers, 49ers, and Texans, he has just twice participated in more than ten games.

FINALLY, DEC 10 IN THE END ZONE After being scoreless for three quarters against the New York Jets on Sunday, the Houston Texans eventually scored on an untimed down from a yard out at the end of the third quarter.

The Texans had the ball at their one after a pass interference call in the end zone at the end of the first quarter. Running back Devin Singletary bulldozed his way to pay land, giving Houston their first points of the game, though the extra point was deemed invalid. Below is a video of the play.

Texas Signs Ex-JET Adrián Amoos Dec. 5 On Sunday, the Houston Texans and the New York Jets will play at MetLife Stadium. Adrian Amos, a safety, was signed on Tuesday, giving them an advantage.

Jordan Schultz claims that Houston signed Amos prior to their Week 14 matchup with the inept Jets. Amos did not play in the 13-8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, as he was cut by New York lately.

Amos’s release was unexpected because he had given a strong performance. He has 19 solo tackles so far this season, and Pro Football Focus gives his defense an excellent 72.7 rating.

Amos should help the Texans get ready for the Jets’ formidable defense, which is third in the league in passing yards allowed per game (176.6). He should also give them depth and safety.

NICO DEC 3 IN THE FINAL ZONE After an incredible performance on Sunday, Nico Collins has now found the end zone for the first time, thanks to a C.J. Stroud pass.

Before halftime, Collins hit the century mark in receiving yards; but, on this play, he changed his route and found himself wide open for a scrambling C.J. Stroud in the end zone. You can watch the play below. Following a missed two-point convert, this score put Houston up 22-10.
