Breaking News: Just In Texas Longhorns Confirm The Signing Of Another Experienced Star

Texas Longhorns Land Alabama Linebacker Kendrick Blackshire

The Texas Longhorns lost a plethora of excellent players to the NFL Draft following their season that saw them go 12-2 and appear in the College Football Playoff. Luckily for them, their success and ongoing continuity on the coaching staff have allowed them to prosper in getting talent out of the transfer portal. On top of obtaining a highly sought-after pass rusher in UTSA’s Trey Moore, and two outstanding wide receivers in Houston’s Matthew Golden and most recently Alabama’s Isaiah Bond. However, they aren’t done there, as according to a post on social media, the Longhorns are also adding some much-needed depth at linebacker.

Coming from the Tuscaloosa to Austin pipeline, former four-star linebacker Kendrick Blackshire confirmed that he will be transferring to Texas.

Unlike Bond who was someone who placed his name into the transfer portal following Nick Saban’s retirement, Blackshire was searching for a fresh start before the head coach stepped down. Blackshire saw most of his activity on special teams during his three seasons at Alabama but did rotate in as a linebacker. While the Longhorns did retain David Gbenda and stellar five-star freshman Anthony Hill, Blackshire will have an excellent opportunity to compete for the starting spot or at least play meaningful snaps.

As a recruit, Blackshire was classified as a four-star and received roughly 30 offers. He chose Alabama over programs like as Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, and Georgia among others. Prior to Blackshire’s acquisition, Texas had the No. 2 overall class in the country according to 247Sports and also had the No. 28 transfer portal class.
