Sad News: After the Lions’ first playoff victory in thirty years, fans will pay a heavy price.

Detroit Lions fans may have to take a big financial hit in order to attend Sunday’s Divisional Round game against the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The Lions’ response to their first postseason victory since 1992 also included the highest average ticket price for an NFL game ever, according to TickPick, a website that provides fans with ticket information for concerts and athletic events.

That’s the cost of success for a fan base that has endured a long drought.

The Lions were the only NFL team this century without a postseason victory going into Sunday’s game; their previous triumph came in a 38-6 rout against Troy Aikman and the Dallas Cowboys in January 1992.

Since December 2000, the Miami Dolphins have experienced the longest streak without a postseason victory.

Tickets for the Lions vs. Bucs game were available on SeatGeek as of Friday morning. Prices varied from $557 for gate admission to $2,286 (plus taxes) for a set of seats in the second row on the 50-yard line.

The game is the most popular playoff matchup the site has seen before the weekend and the most popular Lions game on record, a SeatGeek representative told Newsweek.

The Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 to advance to the Divisional Round. Jared Goff, the quarterback, completed 22 of 27 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown. Amon-Ra St. Brown, a wide receiver, caught seven catches for 110 yards..
