Ex-Pittsburgh S Signs With Texans Again
In the fall, a different former Pitt Panther will rejoin the Houston Texans.
Pittsburgh Three former Pitt Panthers were kept off the active roster by the Houston Texans during the 2023 season, and they hope to maintain that relationship through 2024.
Former Pitt safety Brandon Holl will be back with the Texans after signing a reserves/futures deal with the team following their second-round playoff exit, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, Texas.
In the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans selected Hill with the 248th overall pick. Following his release from training camp, Hill played the most of the season on Houston’s practice squad.
In 2020, Hill assumed a starting safety position for Pitt after Damar Hamlin and Paris Ford’s opt-outs left a hole in the defense’s back end. He was selected to the second team in 2021 and honored as an honorable mention in 2022. In 2021, he was also a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is presented to the top safety in college football each year. He received All-ACC accolades twice.
Hill has a keen sense of the ball and is a powerful hitter. At the NFL Combine, he ran the fastest 40-yard sprint time of any safety, showcasing his lightning-fast speed. In 40 career games, he finished his Pitt career with 172 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 12 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles.
