Saints request an interview with Texans QB Coach Jerrod Johnson for OC position

Johnson is the fourth candidate mentioned in relation to New Orleans for the open coaching post.

After firing Pete Carmichael last week, the New Orleans Saints are actively seeking a new offensive coordinator. Though it’s not surprising given they’ve already asked for a number of interviews from across the league, the Saints are reportedly taking their time in the recruiting process to locate a replacement.

Saints request interview with Texans QB coach Jerrod Johnson

The Saints have asked Houston Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson for an interview, according to CBS NFL reporter Jonathan Jones.

This request is hardly surprising given the success of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, who helped the Houston Texans make the playoffs this season. Although Houston’s season ended rather short, the league is undoubtedly taking notice of Stroud’s incredible performance. If this is the case, it makes perfect sense, with DeMeco leading the way and Johnson developing the young quarterback. Johnson looks like a good interview, even though the Texans’ postseason playoff run ended with a 10-34 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

How do you feel about Johnson being interviewed, and who do you believe has a strong chance of succeeding him as the Saints’ new offensive coordinator for the upcoming campaign? Tell us in the comments section below.
