News Updates:  Texas football players who should be replaced on the depth chart in 2024

Texas football has raised the bar for itself in the SEC in 2024 after exceeding predictions with a Big 12 Championship and a College Football Playoff participation in 2023. In order to maintain Texas’ position as one of the top college football teams heading into their inaugural season in the SEC, head coach Steve Sarkisian has gone through a process.

In 2024, Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff will have more than half of their starting lineup from the previous season back. The Longhorns’ coaching staff used the NCAA Transfer Portal to add starters with immediate impact to some of the roster places where they had lost important players.

The goal of the early offseason roster reloading efforts has been to usher in a new era for this secondary, which will join the SEC in 2024. According to 247Sports Composite, Texas signed the top defensive back class in the country for 2024. And through the portal, the Longhorns acquired former Clemson Tigers junior safety Andrew Mukuba, a big-time DB, to bolster the secondary.

Texas received a fourth portal commitment, former Arizona Wildcats junior transfer defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea, who signed his letter of intent with the university prior to the spring semester enrollment deadline.

Only redshirt junior transfer slot receiver Silas Bolden, a former Oregon State Beaver, is a portal commitment for the Longhorns who is enrolling during the summer.
