Previous All-SEC DB from the Georgia Bulldogs signs with a UFL squad
Deandre Baker, a former star defensive back for the Georgia Bulldogs, has reportedly signed a contract with the United Football League’s DC Defenders (UFL). Baker joins Davin Bellamy, another standout from the Georgia Bulldogs, on the DC Defenders.
In 2019, Baker was selected by the New York Giants in the first round. Prior to his release in 2022, the 2018 Jim Thorpe Award winner was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League from 2020 to 2021.
Deandre Baker will now have an opportunity to restart his professional football career. The USFL and XFL are combined to become the UFL. The leagues combined in advance of the March 30 commencement of the 2024 season. Feb. 24 is the opening of UFL training camp.
Defensive lineman Toby Johnson, a former Georgia Bulldog, was also taken in the UFL draft. In 2024, Johnson will be a member of the Houston Roughnecks. He was formerly a player in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals.
