Houston — In the NFL, a new head coach has been appointed. Bobby Slowik, the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans, was not involved in it though.
Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, is expected to become the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Following two interviews with the Falcons, Slowik was considered as a finalist for the coaching position.
This is the second head coaching position that Slowik has applied for and been rejected for. Dave Canales, the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Bucs, was hired by the Carolina Panthers earlier in the day.
During Slowik’s first season leading the Texans as their offensive play-caller, the offense in Houston saw a significant uptick.
They averaged 342.4 yards per game and scored 22.2 points to complete the regular season in 12th place in yards. But Slowik’s work with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has elevated him to the status of one of the leading candidates for head coach.
In his first year behind center, Stroud had one of the best seasons by a rookie quarterback thanks to the 36-year-old offensive coordinator.
