Ohio State pledges Tavien St. Clair is starting a new position with the 2025 class as a recruiter.
Columbus, Ohio — Tavien St. Clair, a 2025 quarterback commit to Ohio State, has a lot going on.
St. Clair faces inherent pressure as the No. 4 quarterback and No. 48 overall athlete in the class, particularly given his stature as a quarterback in Ohio. In addition to getting ready for his final football season at Bellefontaine High School, he is thinking about how to get ready for college football as he trains.
However, St. Clair is increasingly emerging as one of Ohio State’s top recruiters.
“There are players I’ve been talking to a lot here lately because their commitment dates are approaching, like (offensive tackle) Carter Lowe, Nate Roberts is a tight end I’m trying to go after,” St. Clair stated this week.
Just two of Ohio State’s six players in the class are on the offensive end of the ball.
According to St. Clair, “it’s the defensive guys right now, like Trey McNutt, Justin Hill, and Dorian Brew.” “I’m starting to pick up a little bit now, receivers. Coach Hart really likes this guy from Chicago named Talyn Taylor, like, Phillip Bell. Jordan Davison and Jaime French from Mater Dei. They recently offered a child, Brock Schott, and I’m attempting to get Nate (Roberts) here as well. attempting to identify him as well.
According to St. Clair, he occasionally gets a heads-up on who Ohio State is interested in or planning to offer, and he then makes it a point to get in touch and stay in touch with them.
Over the weekend, St. Clair had the opportunity to connect and meet a few other members of the 2024 class as well as some prospective members at Ohio State’s Junior Day.
“We talked about the cold weather at first, so it wasn’t really about football,” St. Clair smiled. “Meeting Jayvan Boggs was something different. He’s a guy from Florida. He’s not just a fantastic footballer but also an extremely nice guy. Because of his similar playing style to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the coaches particularly like him. Brian Hartline, the coach, is an expert in his field.
He joked that, given the need to set Ohio State apart from other programs around the nation, especially after a player has already toured dozens of colleges, recruiting is actually more difficult than some may believe.
In those situations, St. Clair claims that one of the reasons he committed to the program was because of the individuals at Ohio State.
He said, “I let Ohio State speak for itself.” “You’ll see, I just tell them to do their research.”
