Top NBA Star Now Confirm He Wants To Sign With Philadelphia 76ers

It’s a “real possibility” that Kyle Lowry will join Heat Rival: Report

Following the Miami Heat’s trade of Kyle Lowry for Terry Rozier, an Eastern Conference opponent was able to get him. It turns out that the Philadelphia 76ers, a rival team in the Eastern Conference to the Heat, are interested in acquiring Lowry.

Yahoo! Sports! According to Jake Fischer, the Sixers might not acquire Lowry through a trade.

In a piece published on January 26, Fischer stated, “Lowry being dealt to Charlotte adds another name to the field of backcourt players available.” According to reports, he is a possible target for a trade back to the Hornets. In the event that Charlotte is unable to strike a deal for the seasoned floor general, he may potentially be a buyer. At that point, Philadelphia, where the Sixers are one of the few teams below the first luxury tax threshold and able to sign a player who was bought out from a contract higher than this year’s mid-level exception ($12.4 million), looks like a viable destination.

The 2023–24 season will mark the end of Lowry’s contract. In March, he will also turn 38, meaning that his prime is behind him. Still, Lowry is a seasoned postseason player with strong defensive play. In addition, he played for the Toronto Raptors under head coach Nick Nurse before joining the Sixers.

How the Sixers Fit With Kyle Lowry

Prior to Fischer confirming the Sixers’ interest in Kyle Lowry, Adam Aaronson of the Philly Voice outlined how Lowry may benefit the team. That is, how he could assist Patrick Beverley.

In a column published on January 25, Aaronson stated, “If anything, adding Lowry to run the second unit and bolster some top-heavy lineups could help accentuate Beverley’s skills by letting him focus solely on what he does best and revoking his unnecessary ball-handling duties.”

Aaronson outlined the advantages of having both Beverley and Lowry for the Sixers.

Both Lowry and Beverly are more than capable of providing cover over their stated altitudes and wingspans. In the NBA, having more than you require is not a sign of weakness; in fact, it is frequently a must for success at the greatest levels. This is particularly true for the Sixers, a team whose depth has been severely tested by injuries this season.

The Sixers could afford to play small with Lowry and know that their opponent wouldn’t take advantage of it.

Jimmy Butler’s Views on the Trade of Kyle Lowry

Following the Heat’s January 25 loss to the Boston Celtics, Jimmy Butler discussed the Kyle Lowry deal.

That’s my brother, as I inform everyone. Butler told reporters, “Basketball is not going to change the bond that we have, the bond that we both have with each other’s children,” according to Zach Weinberger’s X account on ClutchPoints. With him, there’s always a sense of family. I could give him a call. I’m free to drop by his residence whenever I want. Both he and I are not defined by basketball.

From 2021 to 2024, Butler and Lowry were teammates. The Heat traded for Lowry because he had championship experience, but they were hoping for younger, more offensive players. Rozier provides them with that, but Lowry’s contributions may be missed by the Heat.
