Latest Texans News: Another Experienced WR Star Linked to Houston Texan In Free Agency

Mike Evans is expected to join the Houston Texans in the offseason.
A number of elite free agents may end up with the Texans. Mike Evans is projected by CBS to be one of them.

With one week until the NFL season ends on Sunday, free agency is drawing near. The football season’s offseason is a tumultuous time when players’ futures are chosen by the top brass of the teams they now play for. A few athletes stick with the same squad. Still, not all of them are that lucky.

One guy who is available this summer is Mike Evans. According to Adam Schefter, the legendary player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent ten years with the team that drafted him. However, he knew going into the season that this was the last year of his contract and that he would look into his options come free agency after the team missed his deadline to avoid drawing attention away from the impending start of the season.

In the present, circumstances once again favor the wide receiver leaving in free agency. This time, Evans might be in for a change of scenery, according to Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports.

“The Bucs would undoubtedly welcome the future Hall of Famer back, particularly if Baker Mayfield did as well. However, the great No. 1 is from Texas, and Tom Brady, an old buddy, would probably put in a good word for C.J. Stroud in Houston, where the AFC South’s emerging teams are ready to shell out a lot of cash for a more comprehensive postseason run. Team projected: Texans.

In a Divisional round playoff loss to the Detroit Lions, Evans had an amazing eight receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown in what might have been his last game as a Buccaneer.

The veteran wide receiver for the Bucs has never had a season with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards. As an 11-year veteran heading into the upcoming season, he might add some excellent depth to the Houston Texans squad.

With Tank Dell returning from injury and Nico Collins emerging as a top option for C.J. Stroud, the team may find that adding a guy with Evans’ expertise makes the passing offense nearly unstoppable.

With its own wide receiver set to become a free agency soon, Houston must make a decision. Since his contract is up, Noah Brown may become available on the free market. Due to injuries, Brown’s season was inconsistent. When healthy, he was a fantastic playmaker who missed seven games.

Trading Brown for Evans is simply a terrific approach for the Texans to start their quest for a title if they want to make a statement and show that they are prepared to make some noise.
