Good News: Texas Rangers confirm The Signing Of Another Experienced Star Pitcher

Top outfield prospect from the past Dodgers signs with the Texas Rangers for a new role
He is attempting to pursue a pitching career as a second one.
According to Dave Coggin of PFA Baseball, DJ Peters, a former top prospect for the Dodgers, has officially signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.

It was rumored earlier in the offseason that Peters was attempting to pursue a pitching career in Major League Baseball. He will now have the chance to accomplish it in Texas.

The Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers selected 28-year-old Peters in the 36th round of the 2014 and 2015 drafts, respectively. But in the end, he decided to return to school, and the Dodgers selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

According to MLB Pipeline, Peters moved swiftly through the Dodgers prospect ranks, peaking at No. 6 in 2018.

He eventually got his chance to play in the majors in 2021, but he found it difficult to take advantage of it.

Peters hammered in eighteen Dodgers games.192/.382/.285 with four runs batted in and one home run. In the end, he was DFA’d and signed a waiver with the Rangers.

The outfielder played 52 games with Texas and hit.198/.218/.426 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs. He played with the Washington Nationals Triple-A club and the KBO’s Lotte Giants in 2022, but he hasn’t returned to the major leagues since.

Peters plans to return to the Major League Baseball in 2024, but as a pitcher. Coggin says he possesses a good slider and a fastball that is in the mid-90s with lots of vertical break.

He has plenty of time to reinvent his MLB career at just 28 years old.
