Steve Sarkisian Finally Reveals His Starting Quarterback For 2024

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian clarifies the quarterback situation involving Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian made it apparent to reporters on Wednesday that Quinn Ewers will start at quarterback for the team in 2024. Ewers and Arch Manning are not in a quarterback competition, the Longhorns coach informed the college football world, and as a result, the second-year signal-caller will again be benched for the upcoming season. Sarkisian stated, “Quinn is our starter.”

“I don’t believe Quinn was fully developed at this point. And as he enters his third year of play, I believe there’s still a lot of space for growth and development in his game,” the coach added. “I do think his experience, his maturity are all going to be things he can benefit from.

” Manning, a five-star recruit out of Isidore Newman in New Orleans, is the nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning. He has long been the subject of great expectations. However, viewers shouldn’t anticipate his taking over the show any time soon. Ewers, meantime, has established himself as one of the nation’s top quarterbacks.

In 2023, he led the squad to a 12-2 record and completed 69% of his passes for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. The Longhorns qualified for the College Football Playoffs, but Washington defeated them in the Sugar Bowl. Ewers will try to guide Texas to its first national championship since the 2005 campaign in his second year in charge.
