PWO QB Knox Dyson is added by LSU on National Signing Day.
On National Signing Day, Joe Sloan and the Tigers land a preferred walk-on that will provide depth going ahead.
Following National Signing Day, the LSU football coaching staff added Knox Dyson, a favored walk-on quarterback, and is still advancing the offense.
Oklahoma native Dyson, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound player, made his decision public on Wednesday following the extension of a preferred walk-on opportunity in Baton Rouge by Joe Sloan and associates.
The quarterback was selected as the First Team All-District and was voted the 6A1 MVP (2x) after throwing for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns in his senior year.
He will now be a part of a talented group led by returnee Garrett Nussmeier, who will lead the Bayou Bengals as their starting quarterback in 2024.
After acquiring AJ Swann, a transfer from Vanderbilt, and signing 3-star Colin Hurley in the 2024 cycle, Dyson is the third quarterback the Tigers have signed this offseason.
This coming season, the trio of recruits will share the quarterback room with both Nussmeier and redshirt freshman Rickie Collins.
More on the two acquisitions and 5-star DL Dominick McKinley, the other National Signing Day addition made by the Tigers:
AJ Swann: Transfer to Vanderbilt
After securing a commitment from former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann in December, the LSU football team proceeded with their behind-the-scenes work.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound player traveled with LSU quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan to Baton Rouge, where he spent several days.
The Tigers had been working behind the scenes to bring in this player, who they had their eye on since he joined the Transfer Portal.
The former Vanderbilt signal-caller gives the Bayou Bengals a player with SEC experience who is aware of the circumstances he will be facing.
Although he’s waiting his time, redshirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier will undoubtedly have an advantage over the opposition this spring, having a guy of Swann’s level in the quarterback room will help it even more.
12 starts and 15 outings were recorded by Swann in his two seasons as a Commodore. In the 2023 season, he appeared in all six games that he started and finished with 1,457 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.
Swann was expected to start as Vanderbilt’s signal-caller going into the 2023 campaign, but an injury kept him out of action for the whole campaign.
Now that he has decided to leave Nashville, he has decided to join the Tigers.

5-Star DL is the other signee for National Signing Day. McKinley, Dominick
Dominick McKinley, a five-star defensive lineman, was recruited by LSU football after the team’s top player in Louisiana announced his commitment to the Tigers on New Year’s Eve.
As of National Signing Day, McKinley, a highly sought-after defensive tackle from Bayou State, has committed to the LSU program for the upcoming summer.
The #1 recruit from The Boot was successfully turned around by Brian Kelly and company after he renounced his commitment to Texas A&M in December.
McKinley joined five-star offensive lineman Weston Davis, four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford, and Coen Echols as the Aggies who have disclosed their decision to transfer to LSU.
Now that McKinley has officially joined the Bayou Bengals, LSU has secured its defensive tackle of the future. This was announced on Wednesday.
Since McKinley and Reliford gave the defensive line much-needed depth, Kelly’s staff has been doing the grunt work in the trenches this summer.
He now has a variety of skill to deal with for the foreseeable future after adding Bo Davis to handle defensive line tasks.
Brad Davis, on the other hand, has once again succeeded with LSU’s offensive line.
Talented athletes like Ethan Calloway and Joseph Cryer were there at the beginning, and when Weston Davis announced his commitment, there was one more five-star in the mix.
Dominick McKinley, a five-star recruit, has announced his commitment on National Signing Day, completing the 2024 class.
Although the Tigers failed to get five-star Terry Bussey on Wednesday, LSU has secured four commitments from Texas A&M in recent months.
With 28 high school signees and one JUCO signee in the highly sought-after DL Shone Washington, the Tigers conclude the 2024 cycle.
