Breaking News: Texas Rangers Emerge As Landing Spot For Experienced MLB Star

Three possible locations for Jordan Montgomery to land
In the last two years, Jordan Montgomery has become well-known.

After being dealt to the Cardinals, Montgomery had started to show that he was one of the finest pitchers in the league. But it was during the Rangers’ World Series run that he really came of age. Although the Yankees lacked confidence in him to start in the postseason, he played a crucial role in the Rangers’ triumph.

Montgomery performed well in the postseason even in the absence of his stellar season. His 3.20 ERA and 1.193 WHiP across 188.2 innings against the Cardinals and Rangers, along with 48 walks and 166 strikeouts, belied his 10-11 record. He will be offered a lucrative deal; the only unknown is where he will sign it.

Jordan Montgomery is one of the best free agents available, but he is still unsigned. Here are three possible locations for landing.

 Texas Rangers

Montgomery is expected to join the Rangers again. According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, Montgomery would like to travel back to Texas because he had a great experience there. The Rangers desire his return. Montgomery has also been given free barbecue for the rest of his life if he moves back to Texas. The Rangers’ rotation is especially vulnerable because Tyler Mahle, Jacob deGrom, and Max Scherzer are predicted to be sidelined for the majority of the 2024 campaign. The issue is that due to uncertainties surrounding broadcast money, the Rangers are unaware of their payroll status. In light of this, Dallas Morning News reporter Evan Grant stated he does not believe a reunion will take place. It makes sense to rejoin the Rangers, but money worries could ruin the deal.

Yankees in New York

The Yankees are trying to make up for the 2022 deadline trade of Montgomery to the Cardinals. Miller added that Montgomery was the Yankees’ initial pick to strengthen their starting lineup. Although Marcus Stroman has since signed with the New York Yankees, the Yankees are not out of the picture. Nestor Cortes and Carlos Rodon are in doubt following their injury-plagued 2023 campaigns. Corbin Burnes was acquired by the Orioles to lead their rotation in the meantime. Montgomery may be the additional arm the Yankees need.

Red Sox of Boston

It’s difficult to understand what the Red Sox are doing. Throughout the summer, they have given conflicting signals about how willing they are to spend. But Theo Epstein has returned to the Red Sox as a senior advisor and a portion of the team’s ownership. It is anticipated that he will force John Henry and the other owners to invest in the team outside of their comfort zones. If the Red Sox are able to find a buyer for Kenley Jansen, Jon Morosi surmised that Montgomery might be signed. Now that Epstein is back in the fold, dealing Jansen might not be necessary.
