LB with four stars Riley Pettijohn lists the top six universities.
The Longhorns are still in the running for one of the best linebackers in the country.
It’s time to focus entirely on 2025 recruiting prospects and beyond, as the 2024 recruiting season is now formally in the past.
The Texas Longhorns coaching staff, led by Steve Sarkisian, has been hard at work building relationships with great prospects across the nation, but their efforts are already paying off in their home state.
Riley Pettijohn, a four-star linebacker from McKinney, has received offers from top universities throughout the nation, but he revealed on Wednesday that he has already whittled down his list of potential schools to only six.
Together with the Longhorns, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and USC completed his top six.
It is not unusual to see great prospects like Pettijohn compile his list of possibilities at this stage of the cycle, as the spring window draws near. This spring, recruits will visit different campuses around the nation to observe spring practices, giving them an opportunity to see teams in action when the pads return. I won’t be shocked if Pettijohn visits a few of his finalists in the spring before deciding who he will officially see in the summer.
In 2023, Pettijohn had a highly successful junior season, recording 120 tackles (10 TFLs), three sacks, five PBUs, and one interception.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Pettijohn is the 33rd-ranked prospect overall and the third-best linebacker in the nation.
