Breaking News: Houston Texans Confirm As prime Destination For Top Experienced NFL Star

Target Free Agent: Texans Mike Evans is “far apart” from the Buccaneers’ extension

Houston — When free agency opens on March 15, the Houston Texans will be a popular choice. Their salary cap space is about $60 million. The Texans, who had a strong inaugural campaign under head coach DeMeco Ryans, will try to recruit players in 2024 who have the ability to advance past the Divisional Round. The Texans may chase wide receiver Mike Evans, a free agency, from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans is moving in the direction of becoming a free agent, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. The Buccaneers have an opportunity to extend their star wide receiver, but a deal is still far off for all parties.

Evans was present as the Houston Rockets lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 110-99 on January 31 at the Toyota Center. Regarding his impending free agency, Evans told Texans Daily during a quick halftime interview, “I’m excited to see where I am going to end up.” Given that Evans is a native of Galveston, joining the Texans would be a homecoming celebration for the future Hall of Fame player. Mike Evans of the #Buccaneers was promptly reached, and I spoke about his impending free agency. He said, “I’m excited to see where I am going to end up.”

The 30-year-old wide receiver attended Texas A&M for his collegiate career. In two seasons, he amassed 2,499 yards and 17 touchdowns. In 2014, the Buccaneers selected him in the first round (at pick No. 7 overall). Evans has recorded 11 catches for 188 yards in two outings versus his local team. On November 5 at NRG Stadium, Evans ended with 87 yards and four receptions in the Buccaneers’ Week 9 loss to the Texans.

“What Mike has been able to do consistently is beat one-on-one coverage — just with Mike and his catch radius, he’s such a big target, and he’s fast,” Ryans stated. You are unable to fall asleep. He possesses all three qualities—speed, size, and strength. Whether you double cover him or do everything else, Mike always manages to find a way to score.”
