The Buffalo Bills, facing playoff elimination for the past three years in the divisional round, are exploring options to strengthen their roster. One potential move, suggested by Jarrett Bailey of Touchdown Wire, involves a trade with the San Francisco 49ers, where wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk would join the Bills in exchange for Buffalo’s 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick.
Buffalo, despite its existing talent, sees the need for a formidable receiving option, and Aiyuk could fill that role as the primary offensive target. Stefon Diggs, the current top receiver, exhibited signs of decline towards the end of the season, prompting the Bills to seek an upgrade. Diggs experienced a slump, with only five 100-yard games in the first six weeks, followed by no such performances for the remainder of the year and several games with limited catches and yards.
The Bills currently hold the No. 28 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and the proposed trade would grant the 49ers two late first-round selections. The 49ers, having secured the No. 31 overall pick due to their runner-up finish in the 2023 NFL season, would benefit from this arrangement.
Buffalo presents an appealing destination for Aiyuk, given the presence of elite quarterback Josh Allen. In the 2023 season, the Bills ranked sixth in the NFL with an average of 26.6 points per game and tenth in passing yards, averaging 238.4 per outing.
