The Philadelphia 76ers are set to sign former Phoenix Suns forward Darius Bazley, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The deal is reported to be a 10-day contract acquired from the NBA G League’s Delaware Blue Coats. Bazley, who is entering his fifth NBA season, has been showcasing strong performances in the G League, including a notable 38-point, 15-rebound game. He is averaging 21 points per game (PPG) and 10 rebounds per game (RPG), establishing himself as one of the G League’s top performers.
At just 23 years old, Bazley entered the NBA in 2019 as the No. 23 overall pick, initially selected by the Utah Jazz, then traded to Memphis, and ultimately to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Spending the first three-plus years of his career with the Thunder, Bazley became a starter in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. In February of the previous year, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Dario Saric, a 2029 second-round pick, and cash. Bazley made seven appearances for the Suns during the last season.
Having signed with the G League’s Delaware Blue Coats in December, Bazley’s NBA career statistics include averages of 9.1 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field, along with 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The move to the Philadelphia 76ers marks the next step in Bazley’s career as he aims to contribute to the team’s success during his 10-day contract.
