Title: “Ohio State Football Bolsters Defensive Coaching Staff with Pass Rush Specialist”
Ohio State football has strengthened its coaching staff with the addition of Brandon Jordan, a seasoned coach known for his expertise in training NFL pass-rushers. Jordan, who served as a pass rush specialist for the Seattle Seahawks in 2023 and previously with Michigan State in 2022, announced on Thursday that he is joining Ohio State as a defensive program assistant.
The decision to bring in Jordan follows Ohio State’s contemplation of using its 10th assistant coaching spot to hire a second defensive line coach. However, instead of that, the Buckeyes utilized the spot to elevate James Laurinaitis to linebackers coach.
While Jordan was a full-time assistant coach during his tenure at Michigan State, it’s noted that he will not be one of Ohio State’s 10 countable coaches, imposing certain restrictions on his on-field coaching and recruiting activities.
Despite these limitations, Jordan will play a crucial role as part of a three-man team dedicated to working with Ohio State’s defensive line. He will collaborate with Larry Johnson, the defensive line coach, and LaAllan Clark, a returning graduate assistant.
In his previous coaching stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Jordan contributed to the team’s success, as they tied for 11th in the NFL with 47 sacks in the 2023 season. Beyond his coaching career, Jordan serves as the CEO of Brandon Jordan Trench Performance and has established himself as a skill trainer, working with over 200 NFL players, including notable names like Cameron Heyward, T.J. Watt, Von Miller, Chandler Jones, and Jadeveon Clowney. His wealth of experience and expertise is expected to be a valuable asset to Ohio State’s defensive unit.
