2-time Pro Bowl running back reportedly doing serious homework on potential move to Houston Texans

One of the notable running backs set to become a free agent this offseason, Saquon Barkley, is reportedly expressing a genuine interest in joining the Houston Texans. Despite the Texans’ historical tendency to avoid big contracts in free agency, their successful 2023 season and substantial cap space of over $67 million have opened up possibilities for impactful additions to the team.

Recent developments have linked Barkley to the Texans, with the running back following key players on social media, including quarterback CJ Stroud, receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, running back Devin Singletary, and tight end Brevin Jordan. While some players may casually follow their peers on social media, insiders, like Houston Texans reporter Aaron Wilson, suggest that Barkley’s actions go beyond mere social media interaction.

According to Wilson, Barkley is actively engaging with top players, notably CJ Stroud, expressing his desire to play for the Texans. The interest appears to be mutual, but both parties are keeping their options open regarding the running back position.

Despite the New York Giants having the option to place the franchise tag on Barkley for a second consecutive year, indications suggest that they are leaning towards letting him enter the open market in the upcoming free agency period. This development adds intrigue to Barkley’s potential move to the Houston Texans, as the team looks to build on their surprising success from the previous season.
