Baltimore Ravens Confirm In Talk To Sign Another Experienced Star To A Long Term Deal

Title: Ravens Express Optimism for a Long-Term Deal with Justin Madubuike

The Baltimore Ravens are facing crucial decisions this offseason, with one of the significant considerations revolving around defensive tackle Justin Madubuike. Ranked fifth among top free agents by Pro Football Talk, the Ravens’ general manager, Eric DeCosta, is actively working towards securing a long-term deal with the standout player from Texas A&M.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, DeCosta expressed the team’s efforts to finalize a deal with Madubuike, recognizing his impactful performance during the previous season. DeCosta stated, “We’re trying to get a deal done… He’s a valued player on the team, and we’re hopeful we can get a long-term deal done.”

However, should negotiations prove challenging, DeCosta hinted at the possibility of utilizing the franchise tag on Madubuike before the March 5 deadline. This strategic move would not only retain the 26-year-old in Baltimore for the short term but also extend the negotiation window until mid-July.

Madubuike showcased his prowess by starting all 17 games in the last season, achieving career highs in various categories. Notably, he recorded 13 sacks, 56 total tackles (with 38 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 33 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble, contributing significantly to the team’s defensive efforts. As the Ravens navigate the offseason, securing Madubuike’s future remains a top priority, whether through a long-term contract or strategic use of the franchise tag.
