Done Deal: Just In Atlanta Braves Confirm The Signing Of Another Star

Braves News: A former Athletics outfielder is signed to a minor league contract by Atlanta
At the minor league level, the Atlanta Braves have added depth. We are reminded how much we appreciate outfield depth with the recent Acuña Jr. news.

The Atlanta Braves just added minor league depth to their roster when they signed free agent Skye Bolt to a minor league contract on February 23, according to the team’s transaction record. Bolt, a player with major league experience, was also assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett that day.

Atlanta Braves sign Skye Bolt, an outfielder, to a minor league contract.
Bolt, an outfielder of thirty years old, has played in eighty-one Major League Baseball games in his career, most of them with the Oakland Athletics. He is coming to Atlanta. Bolt has a cumulative slash line of.156/.205/.266 over that time, with 76 of those games coming during the 2021–2022 season. He has also recorded five home runs, 17 RBI, and seven stolen bases.

Bolt also made his MLB debut in 2019 with little playing time; at the time, MLB Pipeline ranked him as the Athletics’ No. 19 prospect.

Bolt, a native of Atlanta and former North Carolina player selected in the fourth round of the 2015 MLB Draft, did not participate in an MLB game until 2022, when he was a member of the Oakland Athletics and appeared in 42 games. Bolt slashed.198/.259/.330 with four home runs, 13 RBI, and five stolen bases in those 42 games.

Regarding the previous season, Bolt played in 64 games with the Milwaukee Brewers’ Triple-A Nashville team. He also had a somewhat successful 2023 season. This included a slash line of.257/.359/.367 with three home runs, 23 RBI, and three stolen bases in addition to collecting 33 walks against 60 strikeouts.

Looking ahead, Bolt will start the 2024 season with the Stripers after, as previously stated, being assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett in late February. Bolt is probably going to be the Braves’ depth outfield option in 2024, though he could be called up to Atlanta at some point this season to play bench ball.
