The Atlanta Falcons Would Rather Sign A Quarterback For $66 Million Than Justin Fields
Raheem Morris, the new head coach, is one of many offseason adjustments the Atlanta Falcons have made to their squad. Because of Morris’ comments that the squad can compete for the playoffs if they improve their quarterback play, there have been reports that the team plans to sign Justin Fields, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, this offseason. The franchise did, however, disclose that it has other quarterbacks in mind besides Fields and that the rumors of the Bears quarterback visiting Atlanta were “overblown.”
Star quarterback to be targeted by Atlanta Falcons
NFL insiders claim that the Falcons would rather seek Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, in free agency this offseason than Fields. Since he and the Vikings are unable to come to an agreement on a contract, Cousins is expected to test the free market this month. If Atlanta is able to offer him a salary that is sufficient, the veteran quarterback may decide to depart Minnesota.
Where Justin Fields Landed
Since Chicago obtained the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft, many observers have predicted that Fields will sign with the Falcons, and many think they’ll choose USC quarterback Caleb Williams. There has been discussion, though, about the Bears keeping Fields as their quarterback if they trade the top selection to acquire some weapons in free agency.
Contrary to popular belief, Justin Fields’s market isn’t very robust. Bears may not receive the package they had anticipated.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who many feel need to address the quarterback room, especially following the dismissal of Mitchell Trubisky and the lackluster play of Kenny Pickett, are another team that might be interested in the Bears quarterback. With players like George Pickens and Diontae Johnson at his disposal, Fields might be the offensive solution Pittsburgh has been searching for.
Kirk Cousins’ Point of Landing
Although Cousins has previously expressed his desire to stay in Minnesota, he might wind up in Atlanta in 2024 if a team like the Falcons offer him a contract that the Vikings are unable to pay. This would provide a spot open for the starting quarterback position held by the Vikings, who may then choose to acquire a seasoned player such as Russell Wilson, who most likely won’t be around in 2024.
