Good News: Just In Cleveland Browns Confirm The Signing Of Another Top NFL Star

The former wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, Jerry Jeudy, is eager for his new beginning with the Cleveland Browns.

By acquiring Jeudy in the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2024 draft, the Browns greatly improved the depth of their wide receiver corps. Next season in Cleveland, Jeudy will be paired with Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, and other players.

After the deal, Jeudy posted a three-word message on X (previously Twitter) stating, “Only Dawgs Allowed,” indicating that he is prepared to join the “Dawg Pound.”

Jeudy has been targeted by the Browns for a while. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Cleveland looked into trading for Jeudy around the trade deadline the previous season, but the cost was a second-round pick.

With Cooper, the Browns have a reliable No. 2 option that might not come at a significant cost. According to Cabot, Cleveland is expected to reduce Jeudy’s cap figure by turning a portion of his contract into a bonus.

“On Saturday, March 9, Cabot stated, “The Browns will likely convert some of the fifth-year option tender to a restructuring bonus and cut the base pay by either extending the contract or adding vacant years.” The Browns will inherit Jeudy’s $12.987 million contract for 2024.

Jeudy’s contract year is about to begin. If the Browns can’t come to an extension with him before 2025, he’ll become a free agency. While he has come close a few times, Jeudy has never broken the 1,000-yard barrier. He has 211 catches for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns over the course of four seasons.

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is pleased with his trade for Jerry Jeudy.
Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Browns, was pleased with the Jeudy trade since it gives him another weapon for the upcoming campaign. Watson responded to X with a few emoji-only texts expressing his gratitude for the transaction.

One of the tweets that was reposted noted, “He’s already got the celebration down,” and it included Jeudy firing an arrow, exactly like Watson’s characteristic celebration.

This offseason, the Browns’ first goal was to arm Watson with extra weapons. Jeudy is a good fit who provides Cleveland with a another strong option in addition to Cooper.

Despite receiving passes from four different quarterbacks during the previous season, Cooper led the Browns’ offense. On 72 catches, he amassed 1,250 yards. According to Albert Breer of the MMQB, Jeudy and Cooper are among his idols, so they should get along well.

“Amari Cooper, a fellow South Florida native who Jerry Jeudy looked up to growing up, was a major factor in Jeudy’s decision to attend Alabama, and Jeudy has modelled his style of play after Cooper’s,” tweeted Breer. When you combine that with the contract-year scenario, the Browns are in a good position to make the most of Jeudy.

Browns want Deshaun Watson to play a full season.
Watson hasn’t been allowed to play for the Browns for a full season since the sensational 2022 trade. Due to injuries and a protracted suspension, Watson has only appeared in 12 games since being traded to the Browns.

After undergoing season-ending surgery to treat a displaced fracture to his right glenoid shoulder, Watson will be prepared for the start of the following season. He should be available for the entire season, according to the Browns.

“It would be wonderful to see him on the field more frequently. He included, I think it’s safe to say,” Browns general manager Andrew Berry stated on January 22. “We’re excited to have him back next year and I do feel really good about him and the improvement he’s made both on and off the field inside our organization. We are highly confident in him as our starting quarterback and believe he will have an incredible year.

With the Browns, Watson has completed 2,217 passes for 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.
